I'm so excited to announce the release of my first, 5 song album! 'Field of Wild Flowers' is available world wide, right now through all digital media services(a few links below). I have been working on this album for years, attending music conferences, learning how to produce, talking to mentors, visits to Nashville, talking to industry pros, re-writing, and then all over again. It's hard to know when to stop working on a song, but these first five are DONE. I love them for what they are right now, and will always be my first 5 completed songs...and now I'm on to the next album! :)
About the Artwork
If my music were a painting, it would look just like this. The feeling I get when I look at my mom's artwork is the same one that comes through when I sing, play, and write. I knew long before I started working on this album that I wanted one of her beautiful, nature inspired paintings to be on the cover. When I decided to make, "Field of Wild Flowers" my title track, it was like this painting came from the words in the song! This field is a lot like so many of the places I sing about and grew up loving. Thanks, mom, for doing what you love and inspiring me to do the same!!

Filled with insightful emotion and soulful vocals, Katie Burgin’s music weaves such an honest story that you momentarily descend into its warmth, only to return to reality when each song ends. Listeners have described Katie’s music as inspiring, raw, poetic, and organic, while comparing her to such artists as Schuyler Fisk, Patty Griffin and Colbie Callait. With a face that is never without a smile, it’s hard to believe that the bulk of Katie’s lyrics wrestle with issues like unrequited love, loneliness, damaged relationships, and hopeful new beginnings. Yet, despite these melancholy, soul-baring topics, Katie’s honest and soothing voice serves to wrap listeners ears in warm blankets that remind them everything is going to be ok.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Katie’s early artistic passions were largely cultivated by her mother, a freelance painter. Katie recalls, “Whenever I would talk to my mom about what I wanted to do in life, no matter how out there it was, she always made me feel like it was within reach if I really wanted it to happen. My parents have always made me feel like they are excited about my ideas and what I want to do – they have always believed in me, and because of that I believe in myself.” With an eye for photography, a hand for drawing, and a tender voice no one had yet heard, Katie’s talent initially manifested professionally in computer design. A post-college move to California gave Katie the opportunity to work at Jim Henson, Warner Brothers, Sony, and Omation Studios where she earned artistic credit on such features as Barnyard, and TV shows like Sid the Science Kid and Dinosaur Train. This is where she would eventually adopt the title of public performer.
Taking the stage at open mic nights and parties during the weekends, Katie – supported by her husband, Josh – turned her lyrical stories into an act that audiences devoured. With a mix of original tracks like “Dreams Will Have to Do” and “Fly,” and covers like “Something to Talk About” and “Stand by Me,” patrons showed up to hear the sweet, rhythmic vocals of an original talent that was beginning to get noticed. Nevertheless, after 5 years on the west coast, the mid-west began to beckon Katie and Josh back, just in time for the birth of their first baby, a little girl that today shares Katie’s gentle spirit and quiet confidence. Two years later, Katie’s audience grew to 2 guests as she welcomed a baby boy that is a rough and tumble bruiser. New musical inspiration is never short these days.
Stepping outside of baby duty and back onto the stage, Katie’s first foray back into music was an audition for a local Cincinnati television show that resulted in a televised performance during their featured music segment. She then started performing more and more at bars and local festivals, sharing a mix of covers and heartfelt originals. Armed with several years of new material and a fresh voice, Katie's passion for singing was reinvigorated! Stay tuned for new and exciting material from this rising star...
